Cornea Society VideoEd

The Cornea Society recognizes the significant expense of time, energy, and money required to host a successful live event. We are firm believers in providing the capability to extend the reach of live programming through the use of video and web technologies. Cornea Society VideoEd features an archived library of educational platforms held throughout the year. Promotional opportunities include banner advertisements on the site.

2018 Cornea Fellows Educational Summit
September 6–9, 2018

Tampa, Florida

The Cornea Society is pleased to present the 2018 Cornea Fellows Educational Summit for cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery fellows.
This 2-day, intensive educational program includes both classroom and skills transfer lab components and is designed to complement and reinforce cornea fellowship training. Understanding the constraints of cornea fellowship budgets, this unique summit offers travel reimbursement for all participating fellows.
Developed to address educational challenges identified by cornea fellowship directors, the 2018 Educational Summit provides:
• Additional training to improve diagnostic and treatment skills within the clinic setting
• Additional instruction on patient selection and surgical techniques for refractive surgery
• Technique pearls for routine and complex cataract surgery and corneal transplantation

Through an integrated training program in both refractive and corneal transplant surgery, the 2018 Educational Summit aims to enhance current fellowship training and better prepare young ophthalmologists for their first years in practice.

Program Sponsors
The Cornea Society and the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) are the joint sponsors of this activity.

Each year the Cornea Society names the most outstanding individual in the field of cornea and the anterior segment of the eye to receive the Castroviejo Medal and to deliver the Castroviejo Lecture at the Society’s scientific symposium at the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) annual meeting. This is the Society’s highest award and is given in recognition of exceptional contributions in support of the Society’s mission: to promote knowledge, research and understanding in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery. The award is named for Ramon Castroviejo, MD, the father of modern corneal transplant surgery and the inspiration for the founding of the Cornea Society. The recipient will give the Castroviejo Lecture at the Cornea Society Symposium at AAO 2018.
