Meetings

To our colleagues and partners in the industry:

“It is change, continuing change, inevitable change, that is the dominant factor in society today. No sensible decision can be made
any longer without taking into account not only the world as it is, but the world as it will be.”

– Isaac Asimov

Asimov’s quote is apt for any age, but seemingly more so now, particularly within healthcare marketing and publishing, and especially so at EyeWorld and ASCRSMedia. In the past year, EyeWorld has reorganized its editorial board of recognized thought leaders, sharpened its editorial focus on anterior segment surgery, and encouraged new voices in the ophthalmic community to contribute to the balanced, cutting-edge editorial provided in each issue. Among the many exciting changes that have taken place:

New sections

  • International: Reporting on advances in eyecare outside the U.S. and how thay may impact the U.S. physicians once approved here.
  • Challenging cases: Physicians present challenging cases and offer solutions.
  • Anterior segment grand rounds: A physician presents a challenging case and leading physicians offer a variety of potential solutions. The reader can decide which would be his preferred solution.

Integrated media

  • EyeWorld has implemented the use of QR codes to expand upon its print coverage through the use of videos, enhanced articles, and other interactive mediums.
  • EyeWorld enduring contents are available as print, ebook, or PDF publications, allowing the reader to use his/her preferred method of receiving information.
  • Through our global marketing partners, EyeWorld can reach over 70,000 physicians in print and electronically.

In the coming year, look for EyeWorld to implement new offerings in targeted digital media to take advantage of emerging technologies
while simultaneously working to enable a marketer to deliver a uniform message over a variety of medium including
print, online, email, and mobile technologies.

Please find enclosed the 2012 media kit for all ASCRSMedia opportunities. The information is divided into three booklets:

  • U.S. opportunities: Includes EyeWorld U.S., EyeWorld meeting and enduring materials services, Ophthalmology Business, and Administrative Eyecare.
  • Global opportunities: EyeWorld Asia-Pacific (India, China, Pacific Rim, and Korea), and EyeWorld meeting and enduring materials services.
  • Meeting Marketing opportunities: Opportunities surrounding the ASCRS•ASOA Symposia & Congress 2012 and other ASCRS events including: the Preview Program, the Final Program, EyeWorld Today (meeting daily), It’s in the Bag (hotel room drop), and EyeWorld corporate and educational events.

Unlike for-profit publishers and medical education companies, every dollar spent with an ASCRSMedia publication or special project goes toward the ASCRS not-for-profit mission of raising the standard of eyecare health in the United States and globally. Return on investment from working with an ASCRS publication is measured not only in the return from a specific project, but from the assistance you provide in furthering ASCRS’ mission to educate anterior segment surgeons.

At ASCRSMedia, change is constant. We encourage you to note the changes we have recently made and follow us as we continue to evolve as a multimedia publisher. We appreciate your past business and look forward to partnering with your organization in 2012.

Sincerely,
Donald Long
Director, ASCRSMedia
