Dear Industry Professional:

As 2009 draws to a close, we look back on a year that posed many challenges not only to industry and media but to the country as a whole. Regulatory and compliance issues continue to evolve and impact the healthcare industry, while the media continues to report on the shifting dynamics of marketing; certainly the current global economic recession affects us all as both business professionals and individual consumers.

Yet 2009 also marks the continued evolution in the treatment of anterior segment ophthalmic conditions with the launch of new products, approvals of new therapeutics, continued improvements in surgical techniques, and the incremental improvement of existing products and techniques. While the current recession forces every company to reevaluate strategic planning and implementation, the need to disseminate information on these advancements remains. Within a comprehensive marketing plan, the need for direct marketing, advertising, education, and use of alternative media for marketing all play a vital role in retaining current market share and maintaining brand presence in preparation for the renewal of economic expansion.

Please find enclosed the 2010 Media Kit for ASCRSMedia and EyeWorld. We would like to thank our valued clients for their business in 2009. Without the support of our advertisers, EyeWorld could not continue its mission of being the valuable resource for ASCRS members and the ophthalmic community in general. Please remember that every dollar spent with an ASCRSMedia publication goes toward the ASCRS not-for-profit mission of raising the standard of eyecare health in the United States and globally. Return on investment from advertising with an ASCRS publication is not measured only in the return from a specific ad, but from the assistance you provide in furthering ASCRS’ mission to educate anterior segment surgeons.

ASCRSMedia and EyeWorld recognize the importance to maximize every dollar spent on marketing programs, particularly in a challenging economic environment. Therefore, we are pleased to announce that there will be no price increase effected for 2010 for any of our publications or other marketing opportunities that have no substantive changes from 2009.

Additionally, EyeWorld and ASCRSMedia are offering incentives in terms of earning bonus ASCRS priority points in exchange for advertising in one of our publications. These priority points will be used to determine the booth selection order for preferred booth locations at the 2012 ASCRS•ASOA Symposium and Congress. Programs are available for both current advertisers and advertisers who have not previously used ASCRS publications in their marketing plans. The ASCRSMedia Media Kit is divided into three sections: USA and Electronic Marketing Opportunities: Covers EyeWorld USA, Administrative Eyecare, and all of the EyeWorld, ASCRS, and ASOA electronic initiatives. International Marketing Opportunities: Covers EyeWorld Asia-Pacific and international meeting and enduring content material offerings. Meeting Marketing Opportunities: Covers all marketing opportunities at the ASCRS•ASOA Symposium & Congress, exhibit opportunities at World Cornea Congress VI, exhibit opportunities and grant levels for Glaucoma Day 2010 and ASCRS Winter Update, and information on EyeWorld Corporate Events, EyeWorld Education, and EyeWorld CME.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Should you have any questions regarding the following opportunities, please contact us at your convenience. We are dedicated to creating a program designed to best suit your marketing mix and budget.

Sincerely,
Donald Long
